Michael Pineda (shoulder) told Sweeny Murti of WFAN that he expects to be “100 percent” by spring training next year.
“Yeah, the doctor before the surgery, he told me, ‘Hey no worries. You can?t pitch this year, but I promise next year you?ll be ready 100 percent in spring training.’ That’s what he told me before the surgery,” explained Pineda. The 23-year-old right-hander needed surgery last month to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder and while he’s young enough that there’s still hope for his career, setbacks are certainly possible. He’s no sure thing to be ready for spring training.
