Hector Santiago took a blown save and a loss after giving up three runs in the 14th against the A’s on Wednesday.
White Sox manager Robin Ventura entered the spring with three closer candidates and then went and picked a fourth guy who was a worse bet than any of them. Santiago has an 8.53 ERA and two blown saves after seven appearances. He’s probably better than this, but it’s highly unlikely that he’s better than Addison Reed or Matt Thornton.
