Barry Zito allowed one run on five hits in six innings of work on Wednesday, taking a no-decision in San Francisco’s 5-1 loss to the Reds.
Zito struck out four, walked two and was yanked after serving up a leadoff solo home run to Scott Rolen in the seventh. Zito has now allowed two or fewer earned runs in each of his first four starts, and is sporting a 1.67 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 14/6 K/BB ratio through his first 27 innings. He’ll next try out his smoke-and-mirrors approach against the Marlins on Tuesday.
