Rockies manager Jim Tracy has selected Jeremy Guthrie as his Opening Day starter.
He receives the nod over Jhouyls Chacin, though most figured it would be Guthrie starting on April 6 against the Astros. In three Cactus League starts, Guthrie has notched a 2.31 ERA, and he also threw six innings of one-run ball in a start against minor leaguers Thursday. With his flyball tendencies, we’re worried about him in Coors Field, but Guthrie should at least eat up some innings for the Rox.
