Ryan Madson (elbow) was scratched from a scheduled appearance Thursday in a minor league game.
Madson threw about 20 pitches in a simulated game Tuesday and reported no issues during or after the workout. But something has apparently gone wrong. “I don?t know what I can say,” Madson told John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer on Thursday evening. “I don?t like to be like that, but…” The 31-year-old closer has yet to make an appearance in a Cactus League game. Sean Marshall seems likely to serve as the Reds’ closer if Madson is unavailable for the start of the season.
