Orioles’ manager Buck Showalter said Wednesday that Rule 5 pick Ryan Flaherty will get some time at first base this spring.
Flaherty has played first base just four times in his professional career (all with Double-A Tennessee last year), but the O’s want to test his versatility with a potential utility infield job in mind. The 25-year-old is batting .316 (6-for-19) with one home run and five RBI during Grapefruit League play.
