Geovany Soto (groin) isn’t expected to be ready to play in the Cubs’ Cactus League opener on Sunday.
Soto tweaked his groin during workouts Saturday in Cubs’ camp and likely won’t play until sometime next week. “[The athletic trainers] said he came in and was feeling better,” said Cubs’ manager Dale Sveum. “It’s still one of those things where he’s a week away from being on the field all day long.” The Cubs are being cautious, but it doesn’t sound like something which will have a big impact his preparation for the new season.
