According to MLB.com’s Alden Gonzalez, the Angels have checked in on free agent Francisco Cordero.
Gonzalez hears that the Halos might only be on the “periphery” of Cordero’s market for now, perhaps waiting until his price drops. The 36-year-old right-hander posted a solid 2.45 ERA and 37 saves last with the Reds, but his fastball velocity and strikeout rate are both on the decline. He’s telling teams that he wants to remain a closer.
