AL Hitter
Luke Scott Bal OF, DH (ESPN 30.7%)
Talk about making an impact coming off the DL. Scott had a similar hot stretch coming off the DL last year and can be counted on to stay hot for a week more or two. Scott has big home run power and will continue to hit them but the average is somewhat an aberration (career .268 AVG). His line last week: 13/27, 6 R, 4 HR, 8 HR, .481 AVG, .500 OBP, 1.037 SLG, 1.537 OPS. His season line warrants an add in most leagues — at least for now.
Season line: 74/250, 41 R, 16 HR, 38 RBI, 1 SB, .296 AVG, .363 OBP, .576 SLG, .939 OPS.
Runners Up: Scotty Pods, Teix, Miggy
AL Pitcher
Wade Davis TB SP (ESPN 50.4%)
Wade Davis looks to be coming through on some of his potential with two wins last week. Do you people ever stop and just stare at the Rays’ pitching staff (Garza no-hitter last night) and farmhands? I do. They are to be commended with the scouting and moves they have made to bring in their seemingly never ending display of talent. Wade Davis fits right in with that talent and will be a successful pitcher for years to come. Last week’s line: 14.1 IP, 14 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 7 K, 2 QS, 2 W, 1.88 ERA, 1.12 WHIP.
Season line: 108.1 IP, 109 H, 52 R, 44 BB, 69 K, 9 QS, 8 W, 4.32 ERA, 1.41 WHIP
Runners Up: Tommy Hunter, Daisuke (wow!), Greinke
NL Hitter
Aramis Ramirez ChC 3B (ESPN 99.6%)
Sweet, sweet, vindication. Have you ever felt the beautiful feeling of being right when most people argue against you and even go so far as to label you unfairly? Yep I love it, but I’m done tooting my own horn; A-Ram is back! Expect a great second half and elite 3B numbers. Last week’s line: 9/25, 5 R, 4 HR, 10 RBI,.360 AVG, .393 OBP, .840 SLG, 1.233 OPS.
Season line: 63/278, 38 R, 15 HR, 47 RBI, 0 SB, .227 AVG, .284 OBP, .439 SLG, .723 OPS
Runners Up: Chris Johnson, Pedro Alvarez, …Jim Edmonds?
NL Pitcher
Johnny Cueto Cin SP (ESPN 89.0%)
Cueto has only surrendered nine home runs the whole season. For him (2010 HR/9: 0.65. Career: 1.19)– while playing in that park — that is a huge accomplishment. He dominated the competition last week — albeit it was the Nats and ‘Stros. Still no one should be faulted for the competition. Last week’s line: 14.0 IP, 8H, 2 ER, 5 BB, 10 K, 2 QS, 2 W, 1.29 ERA, 0.93 WHIP. The Big Red Machine rolls on. Oh yeah, he deserves an add immediately!
Season Line: 124.2 IP, 114 H, 44 ER, 41 BB, 89 K, 11 QS, 10 W, 3.18 ERA, 1.24 WHIP
Runners Up: K’ershaw, Jeff Francis, Barry Enright
