• Per Bob Nightengale, club officials from both clubs indicate that Edwin Jackson seems to be headed to the Chicago White Sox, likely for Daniel Hudson. The White Sox may then flip Jackson to the Nationals for Adam Dunn. (Bob Nightengale)
• Zach Greinke the Royals have not designated any untouchables leading to speculation that Greinke is available, to the Yankees? -George A. King III

• Matt Capps shipped out to Minnesota for catching prospect Wilson Ramos and LHP Joe Testa. Matt Capps will be closing in Minnesota with Jon Rauch in a setup role (Jon Heyman). Wilson Ramos is regarded as a top flight catching prospect and Joe Testa is a 23 year old lefty who has had some success in the minors, though struggled in a promotion to AA this year.
  • Oh boy, so Ramos and Testa for Capps? This is confirming my fear of the bullpen emphasis that’s going to hit the MLB this year and for years to come. I blame the Padres. I’m a big proponent of bullpen help but Ramos was arguably the best real catching prospect in the MiLB. All I can say is the Nationals are quickly becoming one of my favorite teams; tied for number two with the dodgers currently. -A Cautiously More Optimistic Twins Fan Compared to the Others, Fenam (ACMOTFCTO)

  • I’ve always liked Callaspo and now the Angels are doing the Callaspo Dance. He’ll be a solid utility man for them or could offer a more potent third base option than what they’ve had going. • Yunel Escobar and Jo-Jo Reyes of the Atlanta Braves traded to the Blue Jays for Alex Gonzalez, Tim Collins, and Tyler Pastornicky.
  • At first glance: Yunel Escobar for Alex Gonzalez is a win for the Blue Jays. Escobar has the tools to be a great shortstop and being in Toronto should give him a boost in power with the reverse happening to Gonzalez. Youth and upside vs. offense oriented veteran.
  • At second glance: The trade is more even because of the MiLB players. Collins is a small lefty that is having dominant success in the minors >1 K/IP and < 3.30 FIP through three season (R, A, A+, AA). Pastornicky could be penned as the SS of the future, at 20 years of age he is playing A+ ball with decent baserunning skills and adequate defensive abilities. -Fenam
