These seats will not be empty come 2011
Our nation’s capital is buzzing with the enthusiasm of a school boy who just passed a note to his friend in math class. Come to think of it, most if not all kids are texting (sexting?) each other these days, so the days of embarrassing notes being read in front of the class are likely over.
Anyways, MASNsports.com reported Bryce Harper hit for the cycle last night for the College of Southern Nevada (JuCo). Harper was featured in a BaseballMoves article on May 4th for making waves around Major League Baseball with his gaudy numbers and limitless potential.
What’s so special about this particular post you ask? The author Byron Kerr is a popular television personality for MASN, the network owned by both the Washington Nationals and the Baltimore Orioles. Let’s say that if the Nationals were playing coy about Harper before, they just went all-in. Ah, the pen once again proves mightier than the sword.
This is most certainly not the hater’s ball, as the Ruthian mark Harper has left on his Junior College team will long be talked about whether he succeeds at the major league level or not. A teenager dominating at this clip versus grown men in a professional-level league is unprecedented. The hype in DC is what the real story is about, a franchise and fan base that is yearning for a winner. The energy is just about reaching nuclear levels these days with the impending promotion of Stephen Strasburg coupled with this latest blurb about Harper. Sit back and enjoy the show (We’re sorry Drew Storen, we really are).
